Monster Machine
Greg Rice owns
this impressive bike. It catches the eye
of everybody around, even if you're not looking! This massive monster machine was built to do
just that, impress. As you ask yourself,
"What is it?!" you unbelievably discover that it's a 1991 Springer Softail.
Greg took his ride, turned it into a turbo charged,
NOS speed demon. He took the best of
everything like the Mikuni Carburetor, The Crane Cam
& pushrods, Karata Primary, the Compufire Ignition. . . . . the
list goes on.
Using
all the big names for the best performance, Greg
out all his concentration in building his extreme toy. Using his ingenuity, he started stripping
this softail down to bear nothings and he pulled and pusheed and he stretched and he huffed nad he puffed and he blew a path right into a brand
new look.
The frame is
totally remodified.
He wanted this Softail to have a tight
tail! He put a full size 12" wide
BF Goodrich car tire on the bike. The
machine measures 9' in length and fills up the whole width of the driveway.
Sheet metal work
is the Fat Boy front femder, modified. The gas tank is a 1982 FXR that cost $10.00
at a swap meet. It was extended and modified with a flust
mount gas cap. The back fender is from a
FXR, modified to stretch around the 12" wide tire. The paint is House of Colors, Candy Brandy
Wine.
With a bike that
looks like this, it better have some show off power behind it, thats where the turbo charged NOS
injected Big inch motor comes in. His
imagination was on a roll. This motor
was built to do just that, put out the ponies!
Greg started working on bikes as a kid and then it
turned into a big time hobby, so he and a buddy opened a shop in New Jersey. There they spent 4 good years but after
visiting Florida,
they decided to move to pinellas county in 1998.
In a short period
of time Greg has made quite a name
for himself. There is a waiting list to
get in to see him (better make an appointment now!). He performs all types of mechanical and
bodywork. From sheet metal alterations
to paint work. Frame and suspension
alterations to standard rebuilds, to high performance work, he can do it
all. Greg
can work in anybody's budget and make their bike look and run like a million
bucks.
His shop is
located right on Court Street, which is a main through fare for the beaches,
easy access. A security fence surrounds
his shop, needing personal clearance to enter ( not to
mention he shares his yard with the Police Impounds). So you can feel safe leaving your
"baby" over night if needed.
So if the unusual
is what you want or even if you just want a plain good job at nice prices, done
by a real pro, Greg's Custom Cycle
Works is the place to go.
